Greg has rowed over 5,000 miles in his career as a professional, volunteer and private river guide, including three 21-day expeditions through the Grand Canyon.  Greg got the ocean rowing bug a year ago after reading both of Roz Savage’s books and another by Australian trekker Robyn Davidson.  Within a matter of days, he had a Concept 2 rower in the living room and comfortable second-hand road bike on the porch.  After several months contemplating a solo row, Greg checked in with New Ocean Wave and decided his first ocean row would be best as part of a team.  He’s excited to be rowing with an international group of such diverse experience and skill.  The GPR marks something of a homecoming for Greg, whose late father was born in Honolulu of Polynesian ancestry.

Tim, a Melbourne born and bred man, is 38 years old and has been a member of the Victorian Police Force for 16 years. He is a keen outdoorsman and has participated in a few seasons of surf boat rowing, but more recently Tim has been coaching at both school and club level rowing, something he also has experienced participating in. He has both the physical stamina and the strong mental aptitude required for completing the challenge ahead of him.

When not policing, Tim has satisfied his thirst for public service and adventure by volunteering in the Country Fire Authority, the State Emergency System and at Surf Lifesaving Clubs. He has also been heavily involved in outdoor programs for “at risk” teenagers.

Tim wants to make this voyage more than an epic adventure, he want to raise money for MS Australia – the Multiple Sclerosis Society. MS Australia is close to Tim’s heart as his mother suffers from the disease.

Tina Neill is Team Moana Uli’s champion endurance swimmer! She’s no stranger to the Molokai Channel, where we’ll be finishing our quest to row to Honolulu!

As a swimmer though the question has to be can we keep her out of the water and on the oars?

My name is Brian Conville.   I’m 24 years old, from Dublin, Ireland. About 18 months ago I met Philip Cavanagh (the first Irish man to cross the pacific) and he told me about his amazing ocean row from Monterey in California to Honolulu, known as the Great Pacific Race.
The second ever Great Pacific Race is being held on June 4th this year. After hearing of Philip’s great adventure I managed to get myself into a team.  Our team members are Greg, Tina, Tim and myself.  Together we will row roughly 2,500 miles / 4,100km of moana uli (“deep blue sea” in Hawaiin) from California to Hawaii in June 2016.
