Weather: Uniting Nations Row continues to enjoy lighter and more favorable weather at the front of the fleet with 15-16 kt winds from the North/ North West, clocking to the North. Waves will be around 7-8 feet, from the North. For Cockleshell Pacific Endeavour and Pacific Terrific, winds will be about the same at 15-16 kts from the North/ North West and clocking to the North. Waves, will be a little larger at roughly 9 ft.
Today we are going to tell a story in pictures. As mentioned in an earlier post, each of the crews has the capability to send us videos and we are anxiously awaiting flatter conditions so teams can transmit these to us. In the meantime, we have received some photos from our two support yachts – the Galen Diana and Present Moment.
We have talked a lot about the conditions during the first week of the Great Pacific Race and we have images now that we can share to give you an idea of what it was really like for our rowers out there.
In the next two photos Ripple Effect is getting pummelled by waves while on the Para-Anchor. Although the deck of the boat is empty, the four female crews are tucked inside the cabins to stay dry and ride out the weather.
Fast forward to the end of last week when conditions improved remarkably for our crews. Almost flat waters and calm seas. Unfortunately for Cockleshell Pacific Endeavour and for Pacific Terrific, conditions for the next 24 hours or so will revert back to the photos above, but hopefully that won’t last too long for them.
We particularly like this image sent to us from Present Moment which show some of the crew enjoying a visit with Uniting Nations Row.
And with this last shot, a glimpse of our Safety Officer Erden Eruç at the helm of Present Moment. We wish all our crews – rowing and support yacht – fair winds and seas and we look forward to receiving more images soon!
