Statement Regarding Team Ripple Effect

Posted on June 12, 2018 in General, Great Pacific Race 2018, Ripple Effect

The members of Team Ripple Effect have made the decision to withdrawal from the Great Pacific Race.  This morning at 09:16 the Race Office was informed that Skipper Anna Kirkin made the decision to be transferred to the support yacht.  After having discussions with Race Director Chris Martin and Safety Officer Erden Eruc, the remaining crew of Mariana Cadore Peinado, Eliza Dawson and Emma Rogers concluded that they would be unsafe to continue their row to Hawaii as a trio.

Chris Martin, Race Director said  “We are disappointed to hear that Team Ripple Effect have decided to abandon their ocean row.  However, the decision has been made for the best of reasons. Each crew must take responsibility for their own actions and decisions when at sea and sometimes that means making difficult decisions like this.  The safety of our crews is our top priority and we are happy  to support the team in their safety decision.”

All crew members are safe and healthy and will be transferred to one of the race’s support yachts as soon as possible before being transferred to shore.
