Vancouverite’s announce their goal to become the first female and Canadian pair to row the Pacific Ocean in 2014
In a year’s time, rowing fanatics, Rebecca Berger and Leanne Zrum will be on the start line of the first ever Great Pacific Race. The Vancouver pair is aiming to make history by being the first Canadians and female pair to row the Pacific Ocean in one trip. They will be using the row to raise funds for The David Suzuki Foundation. To kick off training and fundraising initiatives, an Open House will be hosted on June 7th, 2013 from 6pm to 8pm at The Longtable Distillery 1451 Hornby St. in Vancouver.
The Open House is open to the general public and media to learn more about the plans and operations behind the adventure. Berger and Zrum will row 2100 nautical miles from Monterey, California, to Honolulu, Hawaii, unassisted as part of the inaugural Great Pacific Race (http://www.newoceanwave.com).
